Facebook said in the blog post that it hopes to reach a maximum limit of 50 people per call “soon.” Rooms is a step up from the video-call features on Messenger and WhatsApp, including the ability for users to multiple people at once. That being said, it now has a much more mature app in place, in the form of Messenger, to enable people to engage in public chats. It’s likely that there are several reasons behind that, and the company will need to figure them all out if it wants to make the second coming of Rooms a success. While Facebook could stand to increase engagement with a public chat feature, it’s important to remember that the standalone Rooms app bombed.
